2009 Farm and Ranch Water Infrastructure Program

The $6 million Farm and Ranch Water Infrastructure Program along with the $9 million that was contributed by the federal government, under AgriRecovery, will assist farmers and ranchers to develop secure water supplies in Southwest Saskatchewan, including:

• permanent on-farm water supplies,
• the establishment of wells to serve communities over the long-term; and,
• emergency water supplies for short term demands.

The emergency component of this program will provide some immediate access to water while permanent projects, such as wells and pasture pipelines, are being developed.

Two other on-going components beyond the emergency funding, include:

• an on-farm component for wells and buried pipelines, and
• a community well component.
